CoreModel runs on all 32 bit versions of the Microsoft version of windows ( See the test description page. ) except XP and ME. There is no plan to test it on XP because of all of the reported security issues with that operating system and because Ms. was caught practicing deceit with it. Through the use of CoreReader technology, CoreModel is designed to run with its database in any mainstream database manager. It has been tested against:
To enable individuals to freely use and study CoreModel, the installation download includes an Ms. Access database file. If the host computer has Ms. Access installed, the free download will be fully functional upon installation. Access was chosen simply because of its ubiquity. The desktop database may be totally adequate for individual use. However, an Ms. Access database cannot support an enterprise level installation. See the test description page for additional information. Corporate level installations and installations with database servers must arrange for an enterprise licensed system with installation support. Before downloading and installing, insure that your disk has forty to fifty megabytes free. CoreModel has been tested on 64 meg of RAM. CoreModel is very well behaved and the strenuous test enviroment indicates that CoreModel may perform well with much less memory. (As most folks know by now, web browsers and Ms. Access are resource hogs and may make a system unstable, so it is recommended that neither Ms. Access nor a web browser be run when CoreModel is running. ) The test environment includes a 120 megahertz computer which functions acceptably as a single-user installation, and as a workstation. However, fast computers may be required for some reports. A four hundred megahertz machine takes hours to run a validation report on a large model. |
